Walt McClung MA, LPC, NCC
Counselor and
Neurofeedback Technician
Everyone has a story: how we live within our stories affects the people we are and who we are in the process of becoming. Our stories are about the things we’ve done and the things that have been done to us. We’ve hurt people and been hurt by people. We all have parts of our stories we wish we could change, erase, or do over. We’ve listened to, believed and internalized things we or other people have said about us with profound impact. I believe in listening to and working within your story to help, and I would be honored if you chose to share your story with me.
I approach the counseling relationship from a person centered theoretical orientation: that is, I believe every person has the answers they are looking for inside of them. My job is to empower my clients to find those answers and help them live their fullest life possible. Areas I specialize in are trauma and PTSD, men’s issues, anger management, anxiety, career counseling, chronic pain, codependency, coping skills, depression, divorce, life transitions, and Z Scored LORETA neurofeedback.
Prior to coming to Heart Matters, I was a surgical services technician in the Air Force and retired in Feb of 2017 after 22 years of service. I have served several stateside tours during my career with numerous deployments to include two combat tours in Iraq.
There are some who believe a counselor has all the answers; I know I am on the same journey as the people who sit across from me. I would be honored if you allowed me to walk alongside you on your way.
I can be reached at Heart Matters by phone or text at (719) 257-3488, directly by cell or text at (970) 648-4194, or through email at Walt@theheartmatters.org.
