Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

Several of the therapists at Heart Matters accept insurance. You can find more information in the individual therapists’ bios, or by contacting the therapists directly.

Heart Matters is not set up to bill insurance for neurofeedback services. However, we are happy to provide you with documentation to pursue possible reimbursement from your insurance company.

Do you offer any discounts or payment plans?

Heart Matters offers a multi-family member discount on neurofeedback services. We are also proud to offer a discount on neurofeedback for members of our military and first responders.

Payment plans for neurofeedback may be approved on a case by case basis.

I’m interested in neurofeedback training, but I’m not sure if I need it. Where should I start?

We encourage those interested in neurofeedback to start by scheduling a QEEG appointment. This appointment includes a QEEG recording in our office. After we acquire your raw EEG data, our neurofeedback clinician, Mike Pinkston, will analyze and create your individual brain maps. Once your brain maps are ready, you will then meet with Mike to go over results and hear his treatment recommendations based on your individual results. This one hour consultation happens about a week after your initial QEEG appointment. Upon seeing your brain maps and hearing your treatment recommendations, you can then decide if you would like to move forward and start the neurofeedback process.

How will I know if neurofeedback is working for me?

Heart Matters provides some of the most comprehensive and frequent QEEG analysis in the industry as a regular part of our neurofeedback process. We perform QEEGs at the beginning of training, after every five training sessions, and upon completion of training. This maximizes your investment by designing your protocol based on your individual progress, and also gives the opportunity for you to see objective metrics that reflect the growth and changes taking place in your brain.

Neurofeedback is a learning tool for your brain. As with all learning, mastery requires consistency and time. As clients progress through training, they regularly report symptom reduction. It is impossible for us to determine how your brain will react or give you a timeline for when you will start seeing symptom reduction. Every brain is different, some progress faster than others and some slower. Most of our clients have experienced symptom elimination and an increase in their capacity and overall positive well-being.

Can my child do neurofeedback training?

Yes! Heart Matters has experience providing neurofeedback training to children ages eight and older. Your child must be able to sit still for 3-5 minutes at a time, however, our experienced staff have lots of tricks to help them accomplish this!
