Seizure Disorder

Seizure disorder, also known as epilepsy, is a neurological condition characterized by recurrent seizures. These seizures can vary widely in their presentation and severity, ranging from momentary lapses of awareness to full-body convulsions. The exact cause of seizure disorders is complex and can involve genetic factors, brain injuries, infections, or other underlying health conditions. Living with a seizure disorder can present huge challenges, but with proper treatment and support, many individuals are able to lead full and fulfilling lives.

Seizure disorders affect approximately 65 million people worldwide and encompasses a range of neurological conditions that can profoundly impact individuals' daily lives. While some people effectively manage their seizures with medication and other treatments, many continue to face challenges related to safety, social stigma, and restricted activities. Neurofeedback can play a crucial part in enhancing the quality of life for those living with seizure disorders.

Neurofeedback for Seizure Disorder

Neurofeedback got it’s start in the mid-1900’s by having a positive impact in the management of epilepsy. By training the brain to produce specific electrical activities associated with a calmer state, neurofeedback has been able to reduce, or even sometimes eliminate, seizures in individuals with epilepsy. Neurofeedback has been reported to bring about significant improvements in seizure control for many clients. Since it is a complex neurological condition, Heart Matters works in consultation with medical professionals when training clients with seizure disorders.

“Since going to Heart Matters I am doing so much better and experiencing fewer and fewer focal seizure aura moments, and my QEEGs (brain maps) reveal vast improvements!”
