Freedom from triggers

“Throughout my life the ravages of C-PTSD (complex post traumatic stress disorder) had overshadowed everything, poisoning my experience and harming all my relationships. After myriad failed attempts to get help via counseling, I was advised to “save my money and just learn to cope with it.” Then, at 72 years old, I heard about neurofeedback and embarked on a new life journey.

For over fifty years my gracious and long-suffering wife navigated the relational challenges of marriage to a husband with PTSD. After only seven sessions of neurofeedback at Heart Matters, she began noticing some positive changes. Anger, as a startle response, was diminishing. Situations that would normally have set off emotional dysregulation were becoming less triggering. She saw new abilities like impulse control begin to emerge. Instead of catastrophizing, I began to be able to pause and think about issues that felt threatening. My hyper-vigilance began to give way to more calm, connected and unhurried communication with her.

Of course, she held her breath to see if these newly emerging abilities would last. After forty sessions of neurofeedaback, and throughout the last two years, they have held. I am 74 now and filled with gratitude to be awakening from that long nightmare”.
