Jennifer Hickman MA

Lead Neurofeedback Assistant and Technician

Jenn Hickman came to Heart Matters in the spring of 2022. Mike Pinkston, her clinical director and QEEG mentor, considers Jenn to be one of the brightest people in the neurofeedback field. Armed with a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University, she is on a mission to guide individuals towards emotional well-being and fulfillment using neurofeedback. As the Head Neurofeedback Technician, Jenn is passionate about harnessing innovative techniques to promote mental wellness.

Jenn began her understanding and knowledge of the brain by walking unique paths that involved caring for her mom and grandmother, each battling separate neurodegenerative conditions. This not only gave her valuable experience with an individual with dementia, but made her a researcher in treating her mother’s mystery brain disorder that caused her to lose her short-term memory and experience seizures. The combination of experiences instilled in Jenn a profound sense of compassion and a deep understanding of the complexities of the brain and mental health.

Her research skills and work ethic are unsurpassed, which is one reason Jenn has moved up so quickly in the neurofeedback and QEEG field. She is currently pursuing advanced certifications and mentorship as a neurofeedback clinician and qEEG Diplomat, furthering her commitment to excellence in the field. With a perfect blend of professionalism and warmth, Jenn approaches her work with dedication, creativity and empathy.

Jenn is a lifelong athlete, including having been a notable basketball player in college, which led to a professional career in Australia and coaching at the college level. She is also an avid snowboarder and a talented professional artist. Her creative endeavors serve as both an outlet for self-expression and a testament to her boundless creativity.

Outside of work, Jenn is a devoted dog lover, finding solace and joy in the company of her furry companion, Leo. Leo often accompanies her to the office as a therapy dog, providing relief for clients’ anxiety and helping them regulate their emotions. She is also a proud aunt to nine nieces and nephews.

With a perfect blend of professionalism and warmth, Jenn approaches her work with dedication, creativity and empathy. Whether guiding individuals on their journey to healing or carving through snow-covered slopes, Jenn is a shining example of resilience and compassion.
