Alissa Edwards BHS

Neurofeedback Technician and
Project Manager for Heart Matters Restoration Initiative

Alissa (Ali) holds a Bachelors in Human Services from the University of Alaska. She began working in community mental health in 2002, with a primary focus on children and families recovering from abuse.

She first learned of neurofeedback when seeking a medication-free option for her family members struggling with ADHD, depression, anxiety, and sleep disturbances. Their years of medication, counseling, lifestyle changes, and alternative medicine had left them still struggling to find relief. The published research, along with hearing stories of changed lives and restored health, inspired her to get involved. After interning and then working as a neurofeedback technician at the Heart Matters office in Colorado Springs, she began seeing neurofeedback clients in Teller County in 2023.

Having loved ones who have profoundly benefited from neurofeedback and the changes that come with well-regulated brains, Ali is passionate about helping others access this tool for transformation. In 2024, Ali was instrumental in helping Heart Matters open a project under a non-profit foundation that gives the ability to fundraise to cover neurofeedback fees for our local first responders, law enforcement, military personnel, and veterans. Ali and her family have lived in Woodland Park since 2020. When she’s not home-educating her four children or studying to learn more about neurofeedback, you’ll find her hiking, camping, traveling, volunteering, or reading historical fiction. Ali deeply cares about her community and walking with others towards healing and restoration. She looks forward to advocating in Teller County for the impactful intervention of neurofeedback and celebrating as change comes for individuals and families.
